is their a plug where you can hook it up to your TV to make it HD like PS3?

It depends on what model you have. The older models did not have HDMI output.
Connect Xbox to TV
If you have HDMI output. Connect to your tv and go to the system settings menu on the Xbox. Chose video settings and match your tv. Xbox HDMI
Same as above for component. Xbox Component

Component or hdmi will both output HD... I have a very old xbox360 and it output's HD from the component... and your eyes can't tell the dif. in component and HDMI and there are many test to prove it... HDMI is all about content protection...
