Gentleman, for those of you not familiar with miracle league, it’s a baseball league for children and young adults with physical or mental disabilities. These boys and girls will never be a part of “competitive” team, but a lot of them are sports fanatics, so it’s a great way for them to be a part of a team and have fun playing ball. I’ve been involved with our local league for the last 4 years, and it’s gotten to the point that I’ve skipped out on traveling for college football games in the fall because I didn’t want to miss miracle league (I’m the catcher). Anyway, we play on a special field with a softer surface that’s in need of some repairs. Rotary Club is heavily involved in the funding, but one of our players has decided to put together a “fun run” to raise money that his family can donate to Rotary and earmark it for the miracle league. Any donation would mean a lot to this special young man and everyone involved with the league.

Man, I was hoping this was the Baton Rouge Miracle League. I’d be all over it if it was.

An old coach of mine is/was involved in the one here and my son is autistic (doesn’t participate in, but he could) and I’d gladly participate.

Indeed! It’ll mean the world to Johnny. He’s been playing for years and finally graduated to not needing the tee last fall. Even if you don’t wish to donate I’d encourage anyone to look up your local league and check it out. They’re always looking for volunteers
