Fellow tiger fans, we're going to the LSU/Ole Miss football game this year and planning on staying in Memphis the night before the game. Does anybody have any suggestions on hotels in memphis. I would appreciate any suggestions on a hotel that is reasonably priced, safe, and with easy access to beale street. thanks.

THe Peabody would be my suggestion. Its in the middle of downtown and right next to both Beale Street as well as Texas de Brazil... The duck thing there is also amusing...

All the hotels downtown Memphis are nice and therefore cost $$. For instance the Peabody which is the most famous hotel in Memphis cost 300 a night. The ducks live on the rooftop and everyday they bring them down the elevator to the main lobby to bath in the inside fountain. Now if you want cheap then you will sacrifice safty. There are a couple of hourly motels but they look so nasty that I wouldn't pee in them with my worst enemys ding dong.
There is a nice hotel right across the street from Hooters and the peabody mall. I think it is a Hampton inn and suites. Also there are two nice hotels on Union ave. directly across the street from the peabody and autozone ball park. Sorry that I can not think of their names but if you called the peabody hotel I am sure they will tell you. They are not hurting for business so they shouldn't mind sending you somewhere else.
BTW do not stay at the redroof inn or motel 6 on Union about mile or two from beal across from the Med. That is not a safe part of town.
Good luck!

We stayed at a Holiday Inn, across Union from The Peabody, years back. Rooms are a bit cheaper and Rendevous BBQ is next door.
Also a Double Tree mid-town (on Poplar) that is nice and includes John Calipari's (sp?) restaurant inside.

Past 2 times I've stayed at the Madison hotel and the doubletree. Both are nice and walking distance anywhere.

Mud Island is a pretty nice area overlooking the Mississippi and close to downtown. The River Inn is a great little hotel there, friendly service and really nice rooms. And you get to drive by the Pyramid everytime you leave.

Peabody, but Texas de Brazil sucks, unless you like all you can eat Western Sizzlin quality meat. Go to Folk's Folly for steaks.

there is a hampton on Beale and a sleep inn on main that are going to be you least expensive options if beale is something you have your heart set on.
the madison, peabody or the new westin would be if you want to splurge.
anything that is truly downtown is accessible to beale via trolly. the marriott at the cov. may give you a better rate since it is on the north end of downtown. even if you had to walk its' approx 10 blocks.
if you wanted to get a jump getting to oxford, check out Whispering Woods hotel in Olive Branch.
