Georgia Entertains SEC West Leader LSU
• Georgia returns home after a 2-game road swing to play host to SEC Western Divison leader LSU in a Wednesday night contest. The Bulldogs arrive at this game with a 9-12 overall record, 0-6 in SEC games, and will be trying to stop a losing streak that has reached eight games. It is the longest such streak since a string of games that spanned the 2000 & 2001 seasons.
• Most recently, the Bulldogs -- in their first game under interim head coach Pete Herrmann -- dropped a 75-70 decision at Alabama last Saturday night. Freshman forward Trey Thompkins led Georgia with 22 points (his fourth time to hit the 20-point mark this season) and 14 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Twice the Bulldogs trailed Bama by double digits, but each time they rallied within a reasonable chance at a successful comeback.
• The Alabama game marked the first time in nearly 17 years that Herrmann had roamed a sideline from the lead chair. He had served as head coach at the U.S. Naval Academy from the 1987-1992 seasons. In his first season at Annapolis, the David Robinson-led Midshipmen went 26-6 and played in the NCAA Tournament. Now, he’ll serve as the Bulldogs’ interim head coach after he had been their Associate Head Coach since 2003.
• Wednesday’s game is the 99th all-time meeting between Georgia and LSU in basketball. LSU leads the series by a 58-40 count, having won last year’s only meeting, 71-64 in Baton Rouge.

The 15 minute mark to the 9 minute mark in the second half is the time that our depth concerns show up. I hope we can start strong again like we have in our other games in hopes of putting them away early. We don't need to give them some unwarranted hope early.
