I play a regular shaft but have been improving my club head speed over past several weeks. Am currently 99-101.

During this time I’ve begun to hear snaps and cracks in my shaft during my swing that have gotten more frequent and worse. This correlates with the onset of sidespin/slice in my ball flight.

Could this be related? Is my shaft too weak and causing a slice?

Definitely need to be in a stiff at that speed.

The shaft won’t necessarily make you slice, as that’s more influenced by the swing path.

Wouldn’t it also be influenced by club face at impact?

I would definitely get fitted for a shaft.. it sounds like the same issue I was having. My issue was my super quick transition at the top of my backswing . I ended up having to go heavier, stiffer and with a specific shaft profile

Went to a driver fitting today. Turns out the thing I hit the best was my driver with a STIFF shaft.

We confirmed the shaft was cracking but lower than I thought- - just above my hands- - which was causing much more erratic flex. Fitter agreed I needed stiff shaft

Typically, a weak shaft promotes a draw.

I’d say you have a shaft with a kickpoint that doesn’t support your swing transition tempo and your mechanics are opening the face at impact as a result of not staying within your swing. I’d suggest not playing the ball forward as much and see if you don’t straighten it out

Flex is predominantly an elevation metric. I know guys swing reg flex @115 mph and hit BOMBS.

Y'know, it is funny you mention that. I remember one day not long ago I was doing this and I was striping them. Dunno why I forgot about that day. Thanks.
