What chicken insignia are you talking about? Never heard that.
Anyway Major to Lt. Col, which is an oak leaf, gold to silver.
Colonels wear the bird, which is why they are “full bird colonels”.
And no lower ranked dude is going to call a two star by a nickname or personal name.
