Given that everyone has been clamoring on about how Chavis will have more talent to work with at LSU, This is not exaclty true. Below is a table of recruiting from 2002 thru 2008 for each of the three defensive divisions between Tennesee and LSU. Make your own conclusions.

For me, it seems that there is almost no difference in the overall talent. Maybe a slight edge in DL for LSU, but nothing significant. A huge edge in linebackers for Tennessee, and about even in the DB department. This does not mean that Chavis won't do better at LSU than his past 7 years at Tennessee (overall much worse than LSU, even compared to this season), but it does show that talent wasn't the main issue.

He has finished in the top 3 in defense in the SEC in 9 out of his 13 year as DC. A top 3 SEC defense uually equals a top 10 defense nationally.

The stupid arguements should end right there.

While I agree with this. Looking at his last 5 or so years is more realistic than his first 8. The SEC as a whole (outside of this year) has improved dramatically and the types of offenses have as well. I don't have a huge problem with Chavis. I think his weakness at UT may have been DL coaching rather than talent, but overall with the right hires as assistants with him, I think he'll be a solid hire.

their main problem the last five years is their sucky offenses that had the D on the field the whole game and Fulmer handcuffing him some.

And just because kids have stars by their names, doent mean they are more talented once they get to college.

I havent noticed any Albert Haynesworths or John Hendersons on theri D LIne lately.
