Treat your clothes (everything, including gloves, hat, underwear, shoes, socks) with permethrin. In addition, spray down with Off, etc., errytime you go into the woods.

I think I've only gotten 2 ticks since I started using permethrin about 6-7 years ago. I used to get a ton during turkey season
