Money and lack of term limits have us in the situation we're in right now. Ordinary citizens are priced out of running for office so what we have now is candidates that have been groomed and backed by various big money entities to get them into office. Another big issue is gerrymandering districts joining minorities from different parts of the state. For example take Louisiana’s new 3rd Congressional District, a candidate will need to run spots from New Orleans to Lake Charles. The 6th District runs from Baton Rouge to Alexandria before ending in Shreveport. My favorite old district was the 5th district that ran from the Funroe Market to Alec/Natchez market, Baton Rouge Market, and continued east to Washington Parish/New Orleans Market.

Because of these no longer compact districts the amount of advertising has doubled if not tripled in some districts.
