WTF does it take to be expelled nowadays?
Jail and expel now that buildings are being broken into. Oh but no… it’s extreme coddling time that has prepared them for crap like this. No consequences. And their loans will probably even be forgiven.

The answer to your question is in your sentence. Colleges make a ton of money off students (and yet somehow always need more money from alumni), especially the elite private ones. You can expel or flunk out individual students and be fine but once a large number of students are involved, they aren’t going to frick their own budgets. That is unless alumni threaten to stop giving over it, which is what William F Buckley recommended way back in God and Man at Yale, but it’s never been done
