Even Ford is a slight miscast.

It may be a controversial hot take, but I think that Alec Baldwin came closest to capturing who Jack Ryan truly was, per Clancy's works.

not controversial at all, IMO. totally agree. i love Harrison Ford - one of my favorite actors of all time - but he did not fit the Jack Ryan of the book (although i still love the two Ford Clancy movies). young Alec Baldwin was definitely the closest to date.

Definitely agree.

Hate Ford in that role. Didn't fit at all.

I’ve read every book in the series, and I disagree. In the novels, Jack’s father was a cop, and his mother was a nurse. Solid middle class background from Baltimore. Baldwin played the character much more efete than the character in the books, almost like an old Boston Brahmin. Baldwin’s Ryan would have been a Navy officer, not a Marine.
