I don't know if I'd say that we celebrate it. I've never seen that before. But was it necessary... yes. I firmly believe that considering the times. I'm sure more than a few of us wouldn't be here now had a land invasion of the home islands happened not to mention that Japanese deaths which would've also been catastrophic.
