When you look at the events prior to the stabbing and the stabbing itself, it'd be really hard to make a case against the guy. Prosecutor is going to rely heavily on the post-stabbing conversation with Nicolie lying to police to make him seem guilty to the jury. Defense needs to bifurcate that and show how it is almost irrelevant to the stabbing.

I think him going after the tubers is the most import part. He's trying his best to explain it away, but he engaged them and that escalated the situation. The girls escalated it further, but if he never charges the boys, none of this happens.
His demeanor change when he wanted the prosecutor to know he was cussed at as the girls told him to leave is telling he was actually pissed at them and not just defending.
