These type of offers being reported, while part of the process, are misleading and proof of how many(most imo) arent really "offers". They do nothing but lead to discussions like this that arent really paramount to any real decisions being made.
I follow Longhorn recruiting from afar but daily and id bet all the money ive got that at this very moment, Anding could not commit to Texas. If thats the case is it really an offer? Yet it leads to discussions like this where consternation sets in because we are "behind" in offering an instate kid. We cant throw out meaningless instate offers for fear of those offers being taken and then the uncomfortable action of dropping them has to take place. The offer to the Destrehan WR comes to mind. His offer was deemed meaningless within days of him recieving it. That was a mistake by the staff.
I do think its a good thing for Anding as it gains him better exposure but this "offer" did nothing to change his options. He'll get his chance to earn his offers. Yet we are here discussing how Raymond should abandon his board because Texas threw out a bs offer. Context is more important than a tweet or post to instagram that leaves it out.
