When he did it (for some reason) they were a dime a dozen. Don't know what was going on in MLB.
You don't need stats. Was he a star of the game for many years? That answers your question.

Pitched on arguably the worst pitching staff to win a World Series that I’ve ever seen. That 2005 White Sox rotation was not very good.

His was the only perfect game in 09. Roy Halladay and Dallas Braden were close together in 2010. Halladay was obviously elite; Braden got insanely hot for a minute but came back down to earth. The next PG was in 2012, when Philip Humber, Matt Cain and King Felix all three delivered perfect games in close proximity.
You’re right… from 09 to 2012 was pretty stacked with PGs.
