It’s wild. Mine thrives in back Southern fence shade and under a semi-decimated hurricane Ida damaged tree.
Mine truly prefers the shade to direct full day sun.
That’s opposite of everything I hear.

Mines more like OP. The shadow from my house (north facing) screws my yard up so bad. I can barely keep grass there.
