Humans have worked on reducing the amount of labor needed for survival since early agricultural times. In modern post industrial times we have filled that gap with needless bureaucratic and administrative tasks.
Now that we're almost to that point with automation, why not enjoy the fruits of that labor?
Agreed, but you're a little off on your point. "Businesses" work on procedures to increase safety and effectiveness, as a whole, for the profit of the company. "Employees" using tools and/or technology to be more valuable to the company. Now, it's up to you whether or not to share your new skill with your boss/company. I usually enjoy the reduction in stress, in silence, until I'm ready to negotiate for the larger raise.
In my opinion, these proposed 32 hour work weeks will just cause companies to hire more employees, and reduce the pay through natural attrition or reduce staff to do more with less. This "perfect world" scenario the left is looking for just isn't realistic and is just a carrot leading to more disruption.
