Rigged by the league? Not a chance. They’d be risking billions if that got out and it would have to involve multiple people, which increases the odds that someone either gets caught or becomes a whistleblower.
Its believable that someone acting as a lone wolf could try to rig a game. NBA had a ref years ago that got in all kinds of legal trouble because he got caught betting on games he officiated and would try to affect point spreads.

Soooo simple to explain.
Many livlihood$ and agenda depend on the "$$sshhhh" code.
Some orgs rely on Compartmentalization (depts separations of knowledge/info). Non-Di$closure Agreements.
There are other things called "Brotherhoods & Fraternities". "Special" orgs and clubs. Goobs and their agencies. Mainstream Media. Masonic-type orgs. WWE. And so forth.
Enforcement: "Oaths". Threats. Blackmail. $$$$-Blocked. etal etal
