Realistically, how many hunts do you think you’ll make a season?
If its like most similar situations the plan is to take a couple of clients a year who are already either good friends or family members and then whoever came up with the idea plans to use it as their own private hunting spot. Thats the way 99.9% of this types of situations work. I sold 3 shares (keeping 1 share) in a boat in Stuart Florida for nearly 10 years and in 10 years I carried exactly 5 clients fishing...and I had fished with those 5 numerous times before I sold shares in that boat. Nearly every penny I spent on that boat in that time was destined to wind up in the hands of the IRS or the Georgia Department of Revenue. I, along with the other 3 owners, used that boat probably 150 days a year and it cost me, at least, about what my duck boat on a trailer in my shop cost a year.
If you think it through would you seriously consider doing business with a new client who offered to waste 6-8 hours at best of your time duck hunting? It may be a good way to improve relationships with existing customers but if I were being courted by company who wanted me to do business with them and they did not understand how busy I was I'm not sure I would be interested...unless the duck hunting was serioulsy good and then I would go for that at least. 18 holes of golf and lunch is one thing, a day in a duck blind is time consuming for busy small business owners.
