I might be misremembering, but I'm not going back and read the whole thread, but I don't think anyone questioned the worth from and end user application with subsidies. Just what happens in hurricanes, roof replacements, power outages, stuff like that.

I hope you’re right. These threads usually bring out some creative roi math.
Regarding the other points:
Hurricane- use properly rated racking and get someone who knows what they’re doing to install it
Roof replacement- if you have to replace the section under the pv it’s about 2k usually. Or just get it before the pv install and get the FMV boost for the ITC.
Power outage- you need a battery or the system had to power down let NEC
I’ve financed hundreds of thousands of Resi PV systems. I’m happy to answer any legitimate questions. I might be slow to respond because I’m on a mountain this week.
