That’s what happened with the Episcopal Church. The only people left that still attend (that I’ve seen) are the elderly.
I assume this process will kill the Protestant churches in the West, because it’s very difficult, ideologically, to stop it. I hope Catholicism survives it. I assume the Orthodox will be okay, if only because they’re not Western, the Greek Church being the exception.
