The Brightline screams thru our town (Stuart, FL) and I usually catch it. Three minutes later it's gone. Stuart, Ft Pierce, and Port St Lucie are vying for a station.

Once you start adding stops, your high speed train is no more than faster subway line.
Too many stops make the train much less efficient for having to slow down and stop and speed back up again.
Take the Sunset Limited for example, luckily some stops are only done if there is a passenger to pick up or drop off. The train station in Schriever is used like this.
