Tattoos are not given to those selected to be gassed.

Camp tattoos are numbered normally to 20,000 with a prefix of 1, A, B, Z etc.

Auschwitz is the camp doing the tattooing, later camp members are transferred to other camps, this is why many think tattooing was in all the camps.

At one time in the summer of 1944 with the huge numbers of Jews coming into the camp the tattooing of the women did get up to 30000 number mainly using B prefix.
