Boston would be a great trip.
Seattle area would be cool. Some fun stuff in the city. Also can do a side trip to either Rainier or the Olympic NP area.

Pike Place Market is also home to the original Starbucks location. I, for one, think S'bucks serves crappy coffee, but the nostalgia of the original location my interest your teens.
eta: and you can take a day trip on the ferry over to Victoria Canada.
