But is any 1st round pick, regardless of position, going to fix the team? Point is the upcoming draft seems like it'll be deep at the QB spot. Why not draft someone, if the pick is there, and have them sit and develop for a year or two?

You build a team. Draft offensive and defensive lineman. A stud DE. Let Carr play out his contract and draft a QB his last year or so. The Kansas City route.
There’s always another draft class.
Besides, most drafts only get you one or two star QBs. (‘83 Elway, Marino & Kelly) (‘05 Aaron Rodger’s, Alex Smith & Ryan Fitzpatrick) (‘04 Eli Manning, Rothlesburger, Rivers) Other than that, it really is luck of the draw.
There’s always another draft class.
