The above is from the article. I think this is key to his belief. Sapolsky was raised religious, but became atheist one night. They don’t really detail what happened, but it sounds like it was a thought experiment. I think it makes him more comfortable to think he wasn’t in charge of his decision. It’s interesting though as someone who believes in predestination would believe the same. I have never believed in that particular theology.
