Chavis may not be the best defensive coordinator in the nation, but he is a clear upgrade over the current coordinators. He has a decade of experience as a coordinator in the SEC. He has produced defenses ranked in the Top 10 nationally, including the defense he led this season.

IN short, his dingleberries likely know more than Mallory and Peveto.

Perhaps it wouldn't be perfect, but it would certainly be BETTER.

I would consider this a positive if he had the best defense in the conference year-in year-out. Seems like opposing coaches would already have a set playbook to beat him. I don't claim to follow Tennessee football closely enough to critique the guy, but their defense never really struck me as unpredictable and well disguised.
