Had a friend who testified in front of the heads of OMV at the capitol earlier this year. He moved to Ms. and he was dropped by Allstate because he changed his address from La. to Ms. When he went to change the address, Allstate said they couldn't cover him because of the change. So he goes to Ms. and gets coverage from the same Co., but in Ms. instead. He's single and both of his kids live in La. So he is back and forth and stays in La. more than Ms. He buys another vehicle in La. and when he goes to register it, the OMV tells him he has a red flag because he changed his address from La. to Ms., and wasn't covered. He begs to differ and walks out to his old truck and produces proof of Ins. and it never lapsed, so he had Ins. yet La. flagged him. He testifies and one of the heads at OMV says call her and they will straighten it out and refund the over 600.00 he had to pay to remove the red flag, not counting the normal fee for registration. Called em and he sent them proof of Ins the whole time and has yet to get any response for over 6 mo. What the state doesn't do is inform anyone who had ins in La. that when they leave, they stop their ins. account in La. and are then subject to being flagged for no ins, but yet he did. La. does not share information with other states. Hence the rip off.
