re: For those who grew up in SE LA but moved out the area, what do you miss the most?

I miss my dad who has passed away, and several aunts who have passed in the last two years. Otherwise, I miss nothing about the area I grew up in (E. Feliciana parish). There is very little there to keep someone "home".

There was a place over in Clinton called the Pine Haven Lounge, "The Pines" that was a lot of fun if you could avoid the occasional fights. I saw Percy Sledge and Cookie and the Cupcakes there back in the 70's. It burned down some years back.
