I've got a boxer/doberman mix that wandered into my in-laws backyard off the streets. The dude had probably 2-3 days left before he was a goner, ribs and hip bones sticking out.

He has been one of the best dogs I've ever had. His biggest con was that he was a flight risk the first couple of years (probably how we ended up with him) but that has been fixed since then. He love attention, incredibly gentle with the kids, goofy as hell, and one of the most protective dogs I've ever had resulting in more than a few Jehovah's witnesses being scared away before they reached the door.
