Absolutely. There is no salvation without the Cross. On the destruction of Sodom, I've often reflected on poor Lot's plight. He lost everything, including his wife. So traumatic was the experience he descended to the bottle.

The lesson I learn from that? Heed the signs of the times, strengthen my resolve to follow the teachings of God as spoken by His Son Jesus. Including forgiving my enemies and serve the poor.
