You cannot be serious. Both teams have national championship aspirations, and the loser is really gonna be behind the 8-ball, having almost no room for error the rest of the season, if any. There is absolutely zero—no, less than zero—chance that FSU would even entertain for a second turning it into a home game for us, on opening weekend, in one of the toughest venues to play in in all of sports. I honestly can’t believe you offered this as a serious suggestion.

pull a Jeremy Foley, Scott!!!!

I’d rather our AD not emulate that a-hole. But their AD would only stay on the phone long enough to laugh in Scott’s face if he proposed that. It’s nothing like Florida, who was a conference rival that we played every year. It sucked, but playing them every year at least allowed for us to eventually catch up and balance the home/away series. Can’t do that with Florida State.

Still, I’m finding it hard to grasp that you seriously thought they’d even consider it for 1 millisecond. They wouldn’t come to Tiger Stadium if this was just a 1-off, neutral site game. They sure as shite ain’t doing after having played in New Orleans last year.

I do agree that contingency plans need to be worked on. I’m not as sure it will automatically be fine, even if the actual storm is done by Thursday. If it hits in the right/wrong place, the aftermath could be a clusterfrick. And even if it hits well west of Orlando, some of their resources that would be used to put on the game could be sent to help.

My dad retired from Entergy and now works as an assessor for a company that gets sent out to evaluate damage after storms. They survey the areas and write up reports that energy companies use to determine how much man power they’ll need. Not just the energy companies that service the specific area that was hit, but all energy companies in the surrounding areas. Thousands and thousands of guys descend from all over to try to help. I talked to him this morning, and he said the storm is moving abnormally slowly, and those are the ones that can wind up doing the most damage. His group is on standby to leave probably tomorrow, but they told them to pack for 2 weeks.

I’m no meteorologist, but we have some good amateur ones on here and the OT. And most seem to think the game will be played Sunday in Orlando. But storms are unpredictable and there’s certainly a scenario where Orlando is not viable Sunday. But the contingencies will be Atalanta, Miami, Nashville, Dallas, Houston, some place that doesn’t have a game and could get ready in a week, but doesn’t give LSU a distinct home field advantage. The most likely one would probably just not to pay the game at all. We had to get that Florida game in because it had division championship implications. This one does not.
