Penn State was undefeated for two years in a row and finished #2 in 1969, even #3 behind 9-0-1 USC the year before.

Penn State was Independent. Joe Paterno let the players decide in 1969 where they wanted to play. They could have chosen the Cotton Bowl and played for all the marbles. The players said no.

The black players voted no for the Cotton Bowl...this was 1969 and they had been treated like shite before in Texas.

They wanted to have a good time apparently in Florida.

So say the players on the team in a recent article...but the entire team was fractured on this issue.
