I would say at least 6 months, possibly even longer.
I've stayed on Kanapalli and there is plenty of rooms so eventually some will come back online, but it's gonna be a slow process and as long as FEMA is paying the hotels they can survive without the tourists. I would probably choose another island if you are looking for a Hawaii trip.
Lahaina will probably never be the same and those people that lost homes are probably moving on for good.
I would expect most to sell their land as developers are going to be chomping at the bit to get that land. Most of these people not only lost homes but their livelihoods as well so they may have to find work elsewhere to get back on their feet.
