My shotguns get clp. My rifles get a combo of a copper solvent and a regular bore cleaner. However, I was told to mix 80/20 copper solvent and kroil and run it through the barrel and let sit for 20 minutes and then run a brush through it. That should remove all fouling from the barrel.
I like the bore snakes too for my shotguns.
