Really hoping that LSU and State leaders don’t squander this golden opportunity to reinvest on the academic side of the university as well and help it rise up the ranks so we can keep more of our bright students in state.
I guarantee applications to LSU are up, and if they wanted to, they could raise their average SAT scores tremendously. But it would take a commitment to bringing in those academic out-of-state students and a commitment to building their academic programs. That would mean either significantly expanding their enrollment or taking significantly fewer LA kids. Regardless, it would make it harder for LA kids to attend, and the whole TOPS program would need to be looked at.
Tough choices, but a huge opportunity for LSU. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I see the desire for them to take advantage of the situation.
