I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it started during the 07-08 championship season. It was my sophomore year and after playing the Gamecocks, students started adding "you suck...c***" to the song the band played a bit after points were scored, "Ohhhh weeeeeee Ohhhhh, ohhhhh...YOU SUCK."
When the band started playing "Neck" some students between the 2007 and 2008 football seasons started saying STTDB while others chanted the traditional, "Talking out the side of your neck" that HBCUs have long done. It caught on from there to the point of profanity was fused with any song the band played and thus got some chants banned like "Oh We Oh" and "Neck."
Maybe I'm off, but that's at least my earliest memories from '06 - '10 while there.
