Why the frick are we playing Nicholls?

Unless you’re just becoming an LSU fan, you should already be aware that we have been slowly rotating through ALL of the Louisiana schools for the past decade (or longer) - including a historic game recently vs. Southern.

While most may not enjoy these games particularly, many will still also realize they are good for both LSU and the other teams. as well as the state of Louisiana overall. The actual results of the Southern game certainly validated what we all expected, but there are still many positives for these games.

Pros:
1) Given an SEC schedule which will both grow and become even more difficult with expansion, this is either a nice “catch your breath” or tune-up game for LSU, pending where it falls in the schedule
2) it keeps $$$ in the other state programs. Early justification and logic in this schedule was that it was better to keep that cash home than send it to “lower central but not quite southwest upper Idaho”
3) allows local kids from smaller schools that maybe were not quite SEC talent the opportunity to live a dream playing in Tiger Stafium
4) keep more homegrown LA talent in the State by helping build those programs
5) another win for LSU towards larger target of making playoffs
6) less travel for the other state programs and their fans
7) fun “water cooler” discussions and/or friendly wagers with more friends/family/neighbors
