That encrypts your data packets in transit, but they still get that data at its origin and end point, by various methods. Big tech is complicit.

ETA_ think of a VPN like an armored car. Not easy to rob on the highway. But whatever is being transported in the armored car can still be stolen at it's origin or at it's destination, either before it enters the armored car or after it's offloaded from the armored car.
