This is why it is so important to get the new container port down in Chalmette up and running as soon as possible.
Carriers are dying to avoid California at all costs moving forward.
Our rail system is actually very strong and can handle the volume. Rather than going cross country to Chicago, containers could go by rail from NOLA.
Would create a lot of jobs and distribution centers in this part of the country.
