In the healthcare industry, there is a term for this and I think it is called 'impending death syndrome".. This is what they refer to when a patient is convinced they are about to die..

I have had several nurses over the years mention this to me and while they say there may be no rational explanation for the reason the patient feels this way the nurses all say you'd better take them seriously when the patients start telling you this...

Impending or imminent. It’s pretty wild that a person actively dying and are coming to terms with it without a professional telling them so.

Most def believe them and it’s taught to believe them and comfort them assuring that you are doing everything you can to help them.
