That's a good situation. Make sure you commit to an airline and I recommend Hilton Honors. American can let you down and will let you down, but I've also been given the most first-class flights in my life once I hit gold by American.


Beginning of January and This part of summer is when the planes tend to have the most issues. If Texas gets below freezing, then do not go through Dallas.
