There's gotta be some more leeway with that scenario. It's one thing if he ran 3 feet inside the line and the ball hits him square in the back. His left foot was MAYBE 3 inches inside.

His left foot was maybe 3 inches out of bounds is the better way to think about it. He had a wide lane to stay inside, but he didn’t.
