Be their parent first, and their friend second. I see too many parents try and be their children’s best friend. Don’t be the travel ball parent that needs to dress, have the newest, and coolest stuff just to keep up with the others.
Teach them to be their own person, and not care about what everyone else is doing, or acting like.
When they are watching tv, turn on the closed captioning. Believe it or not, it helps teach them to read.
Finally, enjoy every second you can with them. They grow up too fast, and you’ll blink and they’re in high school. Spend every minute you can with them. Don’t put work or anything else before them.
