Don't you get it? These people are temporarily limited tyrants.
Richard Nixon did this years ago...and did indeed make some of these kinds of things the law...55 MPH speed limit, federal facility thermostat settings. They have never said boo about it being done in private property, however. They could care less what your thermostate is set at...they have experts in the field who understand HVAC systems and energy usage and made a recomendation based on facts. You and I can do what we damn well please.
