Is it possible that the Pirates pass on Crews due to Boras being his agent? They may not want to pay a huge contract even though there are slot values.

It's very possible. It depends on if they can come to an agreement prior to the draft. They may want to go under slot and spend more on other players. It's not terribly uncommon. The Astros drafted Carlos Correa #1 when Byron Buxton was the consensus top prospect. They used the money they saved to draft Lance McCullers JR away from his commitment to the Gators. Worked out well for Houston.
