His problem is that he could get away with it when he was doing truly awesome things. Mass producing the Model 3 and Y was awesome. The early success with SpaceX was awesome. The Boring company looked really promising. As of today, it has been a while since he’s done something truly awesome (I guess Twitter is TBD but doubtful considering the price).
