I genuinely get the attraction, but it's fools gold and the payoff hasn't really been there in a long time. But even if Trump does show more signs of success soon, he's a very, very flawed person and I wish good people would stop putting their hopes into someone who only reciprocates when doing so brings glory to himself.

Trump has always been more of an influencer and his successes and record are getting further and further in the rearview mirror. He is great at broad brush ideas and communicating that effectively to his mass of supporters. However, the combativeness and personal attributes that served him well on the campaign trail didn't serve him well in the actual business of governance.

I just find Trump to be a pale imitation of the 2015 version and the message is just lacking and it's all about his greviances at this point. I just don't see him as the solution going forward and I think his supporters are nostalgic for something that is no longer there.
