I did it years ago in a brand new never ran until that trip, 18 ft Duracraft with 90 Mariner, trying to break it in, drank some beer, and got a stupid idea.

Took 36 gallons of gas.

Used 36 gallons and was out 2 miles from Shell beach launch. Had to troll in. Got picked up by a shrimp boat who towed me in the rest of the way.

Never will do it again.
When I hit open water sober that will really set in how dangerous it is.

I was lucky it was May and no wind.
Those horse flies ate me up.
I crossed that open water never again in that small of boat.

Very stupid thing and if there was any wind I would have easily swamped my boat.

I been there in light chops in a 32 Scarab Sport. It is still puckering up in that boat, and that boat is designed for that.
