It can be done if he is willing. Lots of guys have changed their styles later in their career. Is he willing is another question People like to knock Lamar for his deficiencies and with good reason. But his best WR has been a TE and Baltimores franchise leader for a WR is 5,777 yards. They dont do alot in the way of WRs to help out their guy.

I don’t completely disagree. Im just not sure if that change in style will equate to being worth giving the guy likely the biggest contract for a qb in the nfl.

I just think this risk is higher than the potential reward as he ages. As a rule though I don’t really think running qbs are great long term answers in the nfl. Their production basically always decreases from when they seemingly take the league by storm initially.

If you were getting him without compensation through FA it’d be different. But if I’m trading the farm AND paying a guy I want to know that he’s going to be an elite passer and elevate the team around him for a long time barring catastrophic injury.

Totally get all that.

My thing is we are probably never going to be in the top 10 of the draft. We are in that unenviable position of being just good enough but not terrible enough.

Realistically, im not sure how else we get a QB. Maybe we can mitigate some of the picks with players.
